Teenagers from ten Logan secondary schools are learning hip-hop and street dance in a health promotion project to increase physical activity, promote self-esteem and celebrate youth culture. The 10-week project, led by Griffith's School of Public Health, is also a mechanism to engage with teens on related health issues such as good nutrition. The project will culminate with a street dance extravaganza at Griffith's Logan campus on Wednesday, 20 August at 4pm. University students in the Bachelor of Public Health are also participating in the program to experience a community-based, health promotion initiative. The Bachelor of Public Health offers majors in health promotion, nutrition and environmental health. The major in nutrition can also articulate into a two-year Master of Nutrition and Dietetics.
